Who can forget the phenomenon that
was Beatles-mania? To further the frenzy there was, and still is, much Beatles
paraphernalia being created and distributed. During the 1980s, Album Graphics
Inc. a company located in Illinois, manufactured the Beatles Chu-Bops Bubble Gum
Records series. The picture above shows the header card and the display box,
which held sixty-four different pieces. This makes up a total of four each of
sixteen Beatles album titles. At the time of original distribution, each piece
cost approximately thirty-five cents and now the entire set containing the
display box and all sixty-four pieces sells for $150.00 to $200.00. An entire
sealed carton that held six of the sixty-four display sets was sold in January
1998 for $1000.00.
The Yesterday and Today version originally sold
with a picture of all four Beatles and a bubble gum disc. The back cover of the
Yesterday album each displayed the lyrics to one of The Beatles’ hit songs on
the back of the jacket.
This is a true testament to how big The Beatles
really were all around the world. These are great items for any collector and
will allow them to hold a piece of music history.
