WORLD'S FIRST BARBIE STORE
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's first Barbie store?
The recent 50th birthday of Barbie
has brought on a storm of collectibles being readily available and many other
Barbie-related celebrations. But perhaps the biggest present for Barbie on her
50th was the opening of her very first store!
The Barbie Store in Shanghai, China was the first
Barbie store to ever open. This retail outlet opened its doors in March 2009 and
it’s been since that time that the Barbie Store has run with the tagline, “We
believe in girls’ dreams.” But, this Barbie Store is certainly made for more
than just little girls!
Yes, the six floors of this 3400 square foot retail
outlet does have Barbie dolls, clothes, and accessories including houses,
mansions, pools, and whatever else you could ask for. But while little daughters
are perusing the latest in all that’s Barbie, their moms might want to take in
some of the delights of the world’s first Barbie Store.
Women can also browse through the store, “oohing”
and “awing” over the designer dresses that cost hundreds of dollars and are on
display throughout the store, or they can visit the spa. Yes, there’s even a spa
in the Barbie Store and here you can get different facial treatments called
“Plastic Smooth” or even get their busts firmed up with a “Barbie Bust Firming”
treatment. On one of the upper levels you can even delicately nibble on some
chocolates or you can enjoy coffee that is only fit for a princess. And for moms
who want to go all the way to the top floor, there is a karaoke bar that can be
enjoyed, along with all the pink martinis you could ask for!
All of this, and let’s not forget that they still
have dolls for sale, and it should be enough for Mattel to recoup the cost of
building the world’s first – and possibly best – Barbie Store. The total cost of
the project was 20 million pounds.
