The story of Cristy Mansion.

Cristy Mansion is an 1893 Queen Anne style mansion that is located in Waupaca, Wisconsin. This beautiful mansion received its name from the family that called the mansion home from 1907 to 1967. The family owned the home even after they moved out until 1981. The original builder of the home was Calib Shearer.

Even though the Cristy family owned the home from 1967 until 1981, the home was left vacant.

The Cristy Mansion can be found on Lake Street, in Waupaca, Wisconsin. It is privately owned, so please respect their privacy. The property was well kept and well maintained even though no one resided in the home.

Finally, in 1981 a lady by the name of Gloria along with her three children aged 11, 12, and 15 moved into the mansion. The very first night while sleeping, Gloria was awakened by the sounds of horses coming from the backyard. She got out of bed and checked the backyard but could not find any horses grazing. The next morning, she went about the chore of unpacking and moving furniture into the best spots. While she was in one of the room, she wished to have a bit more sunshine to brighten the room. She tried to pull up an old roller type shade when it fell on top of her. At that moment, a male’s voice began to laugh very loud directly behind her.

Around 12pm on that very first day in their new home, the 11-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son went into the basement to take their showers. The boy took his shower first while his sister waited in the laundry room, which was adjacent to the shower. While she was patiently waiting, her glasses were knocked off her face with such a terrible force that the lenses shattered, by unseen hands. Both children off course ran up stairs as quickly as possible.

During the night, the family would hear footsteps and upon investigation, the only thing that was found was a cold draft. Other strange occurrences plagued the family such as voices in the attic late at night, the sound of a heavy chained box being pushed across the attic floor, and the kitchen door would open by unseen hands.

The family soon learned to live with the ghosts and as far as anyone knows, they are still residing there.
