The story of Berlin Castle.
The Berlin Castle has a tale all
of its own about a ghost of the Hohenzollern family. This ghost would appear to
members of the Hohenzollern family when a member of the family was close to
death.
As the legend goes, the lady in white or Weisse
Frau is Kunigunde von Orlamonde. Her husband built this the Berlin castle in
1443 or at least was one of the prime builders. When her husband passed away,
she desired to marry Albrecht von Hohenzollern. He explained that they could not
marry with "four eyes between us." He was referring to his parents; however,
Kunigunde believed that he was talking about her two children. She devised a way
in which to kill her children so it would appear that they died of natural
causes using a "golden needle" to pierce their skulls. She was overwhelmed with
grief and remorse so she traveled to Rome to ask the Pope for forgiveness. He
would only grant her forgiveness if she agreed to devote the rest of your life
to monastic work. She then traveled from Rome to the valley of Berneck walking
on her knees to build a monastery. One version claims she died before she
completed a monastery and another version claims she found a monastery but died
in her early thirties. She is now only known for her hauntings, bad luck, and
death, which she bestows upon the Hohenzollern castles and all ancestors of the
Hohenzollern family.
