The story of the Banshee of the Bad Lands.

If you are a real adventurer and are not afraid of anything, you may change your mind once you visit the Bad Lands of Dakota what it has been commonly called "Hell, with the fires out,”

As the story goes, no one is sure who the Banshee is that haunts this region, but if you are not afraid of the rattlesnakes, the eerie darkness and scary canyons then go for it. By night, lit only by the moon the entire area becomes more frightening that an old cemetery. The rocks are lighted with phosphor flashes, the wolves howl, and owls screech and the Banshee sweeps down upon all visitors. She has no fear and will stand among you, but if you dare to ask her what she might want, she tosses her arms into the air and let out a shriek that echoes throughout the gulches. She will then disappear and then be seen once again on the top of her hill wringing her hands.

The haunted butte has no cattle grazing and the cowboys are weary of seeing this terrifying Banshee.

However, the Banshee is not alone on this butte. There is a skeleton that searches for music outside any camp or door. If he hears music, he sits quietly by and nods to the rhythm of the music inside. If you dare to leave a violin just close enough, he will even play along. As the sun begins to rise, his music begins to fade and when the light of the morning sun is visible in the distance the music is no more. The music has been said to be hypnotic and anyone that follows the sound will follow the skeleton into a rocky pitfall of death.
