What was the world's largest score in Asteroids?

Although Asteroids may bore today's sophisticated gamers, back in 1979 when it was released in local arcades by Atari it was a huge hit.

The largest, or highest, score ever recorded in a game of Asteroids was achieved by Scott Safran on November 13, 1982.

Scott Safran managed to blow up enough asteroids and spaceships to amass an out of this world 41,336,440 points.
