WORLD'S LARGEST ARTIFICIAL ISLANDS
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What are the world's largest artificial islands?
If you want innovation, you need to travel to Dubai. It
is here that the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum saw an opportunity to increase
tourism in Dubai and seized it. Wanting to create more coastline land, he
proposed the idea that artificial islands be created. More than that, he made
them even more attractive to visitors by giving them two extremely unique
features – they would be in the shape of palm trees and they would have massive
land areas. There would be three different islands: Jumeirah Palm Island, which
holds mainly residential areas; Jebel Ali Palm Island, which will be a main
attraction to visitors because of its entertainment parks and shops; and Deira
Palm Island which is the perfect combination of the two.
The project was begun in 2001 and it’s going to be
an estimated ten to fifteen years before the project is entirely complete. The
islands will measure approximately 46.35 million square meters, making them the
world’s largest artificial islands. Their massive size is larger than the size
of Paris and is so big it can be seen from outer space!
