What was the largest appendix ever removed?

The appendix is a funny little organ. Doctors and researchers have never been able to determine the purpose of this small pouch that lies between the large and small intestine yet, should it burst it could be fatal. Because there has been no proven purpose for the appendix and yet it still poses such a danger, doctors will often remove an appendix from a patient should it cause the slightest bit of trouble. Removing the appendix has never shown to have any ill health effects either. The largest appendix that has ever been removed however was causing no problems at all and was only removed during the course of an autopsy.

The largest appendix was removed from Safranco August from Croatia on August 26, 2006 and it measured 26 centimeters, or 10.5 inches.
