What was the world's largest car balanced on someone's
head?
There are definitely some odd professions out there but
some people just have a knack for turning their passion into their career. Such
is the case with John Evans from the United Kingdom, the professional Head
Balancer. If you can name it the chances are good that at one time or another,
Evans has tried to balance it on his head. His feats include people, books, and
multiple beers but his hardest, and most dangerous, trick is balancing a Mini
weighing 159.6 kilograms (352 pounds) on his head. Not only did Evans live to
tell the tale but he also made it into the Guinness Book of World Records! But
this is definitely something you should not try at home.
John Evans is a massive being, measuring over 6
feet tall and weighing over 300 pounds but even those with those exact
measurements should think twice before balancing vehicles on their head. The
reason Evans is able to perform such marvels is because of one measurement in
particular – that of his neck, which is an astonishing 60.9 centimeters (24
inches) wide. Not even Evans’ arms could sustain the kind of weight that his
neck can! Because it’s only his neck that is performing the balancing, this
trick is even more dangerous. Not only could the car potentially crush Evans but
the balancing must be performed perfectly and the slightest tilt, gust of wind,
or movement in the wrong direction could cause the car to move and it would then
crush Evans. No wonder he can make a living out of it!
John Evans balanced the largest car ever to be
balanced on a human head on May 24,1999 at the London Studios in the United
Kingdom.
