Who was the last Queen of France?
The last Queen of France was Maria Antonia Josefa
Joanna von Habsburg-Lothringen, better known as Marie Antoinette.
Marie Antoinette was born on November 2, 1755 in
Vienna, Austria to Francis Stephen and Maria Theresa, Emperor and Empress of the
Holy Roman Empire.
On May 16, 1740 at the age of 14 she married Louis
XVI of France and on May 10, 1774 when King Louis XV died of smallpox her
husband was crowned King of France and she became Queen of France.
On August 10, 1792 the Royal Family was arrested for
passing military secrets to the enemy.
On January 21, 1793 King Louis XVI was executed by
guillotine and on October 16, 1793, at the age of 37 Marie Antoinette followed
her husbands fate ending the reign of the last Queen of France.
