In 1989 Dr. Bernard Lavery of
Wales grew a cabbage with some pretty long leaves, in fact the leaves were so
long that they created the world's longest cabbage.
The cabbage itself was 12 feet x 13 feet and still growing when picked.
Unfortunately some of the leaves fell off before it was weighed and measured,
but it was thought to weigh 150 pounds.
The official weight given to the world's longest cabbage was 124 pounds which
beat out the previous record of 123 pounds set by William Collingwood of County
Durham, England in 1865.
