The world's longest canoe was designed
by Howard Whitten and built by him along with students at Nokomis High in
Newport, Maine.
On July 8, 2006 the canoe was launched
on Sebasticook Lake and for an hour it truly was the world's longest canoe,
before becoming a bunch of smaller canoes.
The canoe did, however, raise about $5,000.00, enough funding for a pontoon boat project.
The size of the canoe was 149 feet and
one inch long.
