Who sold the most albums ever?
When it comes to determining how
many records of one particular album, have been sold, it can be close to
impossible to determine who has sold the most and when it comes to similar
artists, with the similar fan base, the details become even grittier, making
accurate results even more challenging. Add to that the fact that with the
explosion of music being downloaded off of the Internet for free, the most
albums ever sold does not in fact, automatically determine the most popular
album or the album most listened to.
The album with the most records sold is Thriller by
Michael Jackson. Although it is impossible to tell just how many records have
been sold altogether, it’s generally known that the album has sold over 100
million copies. Although this was the sixth album for Jackson, it was the one
that really put him on the pop map and helped propel him to the mega-success
that he would become. Besides Thriller, it also contained hits such as Billie
Jean and Beat It. The album had a budget of $750,000 and Jackson spent April to
November of 1982 recording it. The album with the most copies ever sold was
released on November 30, 1982.
