What was the most people simultaneously belly dancing?
Belly dancers are fun to watch as
they clink their small hand instruments and wiggle their tummies in ways that
some of us just aren’t quite so flexible to be able to do!
But what would be really fun would
be to watch hundreds of them at the same time!
That’s what a group from the
United Kingdom did on November 8, 2008 to set the world record for the most
people belly dancing simultaneously. The belly dancers however did it for a much
more important cause than setting the world record and that was to benefit the
Children in Need charity.
The event was held by BBC Radio
Hereford and Worcester in Malvern, United Kingdom and there were 535 belly
dancers in total.
