What was the second amendment to the Constitution?
The second amendment in the United
States Constitution is also part of the United States Bill of Rights and states
that all people should have the right to “keep and bear arms.”
Although this is a right that is
still widely controversial today, the right came from a time when the public
feared that the government would try to completely take over and would not only
collect an army to govern the people but the fear was also that the government
would make it impossible for the people to protect themselves as they thought
the government would make it illegal for people to possess firearms.
The right was introduced so that
people could become more trusting of their government and it was during a time
when the government was trying to show the public that they weren’t working
against each other.
