WORLD'S SECOND MISS AMERICA
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
Who was the world's second Miss America?
Mary Katherine Campbell was the
winner of the title “Miss America” the second year of the pageant’s history. In
addition to this title, she was also the only Miss America to receive the title
twice.
The first time she won was in 1922
and she competed as Miss Columbus, Ohio. She was also only fifteen at the time,
which was against pageant rules however, she lied on her application so that she
could compete. She competed the next year in 1923, once again representing
Columbus, Ohio and won the title for the second time. In 1924, she competed once
again as Miss Columbus and although she did not win that pageant, she was very
close to acquiring the crown for a third time. This prompted the Miss America
officials to instate a rule in which a Miss America could only be awarded the
title once.
Margaret Gorman was the first Miss America before
her and Ruth Malcomson won the year after her second win, in 1924.
