WORLD'S SECOND BATMAN MOVIE
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What was the world's second Batman movie?
There have been so many Batman
movies and so many actors have played the Caped Crusader that we wanted to know
a little bit of the history that has gone into bringing this superhero to the
big screen. What is considered to be the first and second Batman could be a
topic of debate as it depends on what your idea of a movie is.
The story of Batman has been enjoyed by the young
and old for several decades and if you want to know what the first few Batman
movies were, you would need to go back to a time when serial movies were being
played in movie theatres. Serial movies are movies that are filmed and shown in
chapters. Usually a theatre would play one chapter for a whole week and this
chapter would have a cliffhanger at the end that would keep the patrons coming
back the next week to see the next chapter. The next week the customers would
come back to see the next chapter and of course, pay to do so.
The first Batman serial movie was released in 1943
and six years later in 1949, the second serial movie, Batman and Robin, was
released. In this movie, Batman and Robin are working to defeat the Wizard,
whose face remains covered and whose true identity is unknown to the audience
until the very end of the film. Robert Lowery starred as Batman with Johnny
Duncan playing the part of Robin. The movie had 15 chapters in all, for a
complete running time of 263 minutes and it was released in the United States on
May 26, 1949.
