THE SECOND PLANET
IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What is the second planet in the solar system?
When you’re trying to decide the
order of the planets in the solar system, one goes by how close they are to the
surface of the Sun. Mercury is the first planet in the solar system, as it’s
closest to the Sun. But what’s the second planet in the solar system? That title
belongs to Venus.
Venus and Earth are almost identical when it comes
to their size. But that’s about the only way the two are alike. Venus’
atmosphere is made up almost entirely of carbon dioxide and thick sulfuric
clouds are present on its entire surface. This is one reason why people could
never land on Venus, they simply wouldn’t survive. In addition to that, the
temperature on Venus is about 430 degrees Celsius, which also makes it
impossible for inhabitation. There is also extreme atmospheric pressure on
Venus, which is about 92 times greater than the pressure found on Earth.
No one has even attempted to land on Venus. One
reason for that is because it’s so close to the Sun, but another reason is
because the environment is simply too harsh for a human to survive any more than
a few minutes, if they could even survive that long. There have been some
electronic probes and robotics that have landed on the second planet in the
solar system but even these robots have only lasted for a few hours before being
melted.
Venus is also the planet that’s closest to the
Earth, which is the third planet in the solar system.
