WORLD'S SMALLEST HOLE
THE LONGEST LIST OF THE LONGEST
STUFF AT THE LONGEST DOMAIN NAME AT LONG LAST
What is the world's smallest hole?
In November 2006, using
electro-discharge machining, which is a fancy name for drilling small holes,
scientists from Cardiff University have drilled a small hole, in fact the
world's smallest hole.
The hole was drilled into a piece
of metal and measures a tiny 22 microns or 0.022 millimeters wide and was
drilled 5mm deep.
For
comparison, the average human hair is about 45 microns wide.
