What is the world's smallest rodent?
The pygmy jerboa is the world’s
smallest rodent at under a couple inches in length.
It is a long tailed rodent that
can jump long distance by using its hind legs similar to a kangaroo.
There are 25 species of jerboas
known today which live throughout the deserts or other dry areas of Asia and
Africa.
Most Jerboas are
between 2 to 6 inches in length with a very long tail measuring between 3 to 10
inches.
The smallest jerboa found is
measured at not quite 2 inches long not counting its tail.
