DON'T SIT TO CLOSE TO THE TV

It seems many kids are being told not to sit too close to the television, that it will make them go blind.  Although kids have believed this old wives tales for generations, it’s simply untrue.  You will not go blind no matter how long you sit close to the television, as many children have proved to their parents! 

The reason for this old wives tale is unknown, although it probably came from parents who wanted their kids to get out of the way of the television, or simply did not want their kids to watch so much television.  Fortunately, you can sit right next to the television, and though the picture isn’t as good, you’ll not suffer anything more than eyestrain. 

While there is no evidence that sitting in front of the television for hours will make you go blind, most doctors advise not watching too much television as it can cause painful eye strain, and there are much better things that children can do with their time.
